Women in tech is undoubtedly an exciting topic in the current times. So, of course, the presence of women has increased in the tech space.

Women’s journey as an integral part of the technology sector should begin with proper education. But unfortunately, the gap in the STEM degrees earned by men and women still exists. A STEM degree refers to Science, Technology, Maths, and Engineering. Mostly, women prefer a degree in another field, including Psychology, journalism, and similar ones.

Here are some statistics to note: A study by the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission revealed that women had a 40% lower likelihood of working in engineering, a 33% higher chance of working in math, and a 90% higher probability of working in science than in jobs in the technology sector. The details of the study were published in mid-2022.

While the tech sector struggles to draw in more women, keeping those who do join has also been a problem. The Women In Tech Network found that compared to women who aren’t in STEM-related jobs, many women in STEM education are more likely to leave their positions within the first few years.

Workplace culture is also a significant challenge to be tackled. Many women have left their jobs in search of a better working environment.
