The recent times would have been the worst in the history of layoffs in the tech world. As per incoming data, more than 1,00,00 technology professionals lost their jobs globally in the month of January only.
Most of the big technology companies have laid off their employees. Amazon terminated around 18,000 employees. The number is 12,000 for Google and 10,000 for Microsoft.

Statistically, on average, more than 288 organizations worldwide lost more than 3,300 tech workers per day.
154,336 employees lost their jobs by more than 1,000 organizations in 2022, according to data from the layoffs monitoring website Layoffs. Thus, between 2022 and the present, more than 2.5 lakh tech workers have lost their jobs.

It’s worrying that the trend appears to continue at present. The layoffs continue , and the tech enterprises have a variety of reasons, including an uncertain economy, covid-19 pandemic, its impacts, overhiring, and so on.
“Amazon has already survived unstable and challenging economies, and we will do the same moving forward. These adjustments will give us a stronger cost structure to pursue our long-term ambitions. Amazon would offer affected employees severance, temporary health insurance, and job placement, ” says CEO Andy Jessy.
