According to a recently conducted worldwide study comprising around 1300 security leaders, about 79% of security decisions are arrived upon by the leaders without assessing the insights. ( Research by Google Cloud’s Mandiant)
The security leaders who were part of the survey belonged to different countries.
One of the critical issues is effectively utilizing the intelligence across the security team.

Interestingly, many participants also felt that some threats go unnoticed by senior security experts.
“This research indicates that one of the biggest barriers to building stronger defences is the sheer volume of information: organizations must find better strategies for putting intelligence into action to regain much-needed focus and identify clear priorities,” says Jamie Collier, senior threat intelligence advisor (EMEA), Mandiant.

The other critical finding of the study is that given the threat landscape, cyber leaders only had the opportunity to address their work with organizational leadership and senior stakeholders an average of once every four to five weeks.
“A conventional, check-the-box mindset isn’t enough to defend against today’s well-resourced and dynamic adversaries. Security teams are outwardly confident, but often struggle to keep pace with the rapidly changing threat landscape. They crave actionable information that can be applied throughout their organization. As our Global perspectives on threat intelligence report demonstrate, security teams are concerned that senior leaders don’t fully grasp the nature of the threat,” says Sandra Joyce, Vice President, Mandiant.
