Interest in Classroom Learning Technologies Adopted During Pandemic Continues

Share:

The Covid-19 pandemic has really altered the way industries function. For example, the education sector had to adopt new technologies to provide top-quality education during the pandemic. A recent study by McKinsey has shown that faculty and students are eager to continue using new learning technologies adopted during the corona-19 pandemic.

Institutions can play a massive role in incorporating these technologies into the curriculum. In fact, the pandemic forced an inevitable and sudden shift to remote learning, especially for higher-education grades. Virtual classrooms were new and less effective than regular classrooms. Educators had no option but to adopt technologies that enable increased interactivity between students and lecturers. There were several hybrid models of in-person and online activities.

“The pandemic pushed the need for a new learning experience online. It recentered institutions to think about how they’ll teach moving forward and has brought synchronous and hybrid learning into focus, “says an industry expert who responded to the study.

The incorporation of technologies into the curriculum is expected to continue. Several U.S colleges and other educational institutions are willing to make considerable investments in education technology or use technology to make their online curriculum highly diverse and exciting.

Although technologies are being leveraged, there is room for widespread adoption. Currently, some technologies need to be utilized to their maximum potential.

The research says that some potential technologies, such as TAs, VR/AR, AI Adaptive course delivery, etc., are less involved. When the survey tried to find the reasons, the enormous investment needed was the barrier. The equipment and other materials necessary for their proper operations are expensive and only affordable for some. Also, using these technologies in some scenarios will be challenging, especially in cases of enormous enrollment.

Besides the cost, there were other barriers to utilizing technologies to their maximum potential, the need for more awareness, and difficulties in deployment.
