Aukett Swanke, a firm specializing in architectural and design services along with smart building solutions, has announced its subsidiary, Torpedo Factory, acquiring assets from RTS, a Birmingham-based company also known as Vanti, following its liquidation. Vanti, a provider of smart building software and master system integration services to commercial buildings, ceased operations due to financial difficulties, leading to its liquidation on March 18.
The acquisition, valued at approximately £37,000, with potential additional payments up to £50,000 contingent on certain financial targets related to RTS client retention and business performance, marks a strategic expansion for Aukett Swanke. This move not only enhances their capabilities in smart building systems but also signifies the establishment of a new Birmingham office, broadening their geographical footprint and service offerings in the smart buildings sector.
Nick Clark, Aukett Swanke’s CEO, expressed admiration for Vanti’s longstanding reputation and contributions to the smart buildings industry, including their involvement in the RIBA Smart Building Overlay publication and participation in the Smart Building Conference in Barcelona. He highlighted the acquisition’s significance in terms of gaining valuable expertise and expanding the Torpedo Factory Group’s (TFG) presence to the West Midlands, while also integrating former Vanti staff into their operations.
Vanti’s portfolio, including projects like Birmingham’s One Centenary Way and the Enterprise Wharf development, as well as collaborations with notable organizations like Informa, Citigroup, and Tottenham Hotspur FC, underlines the strategic value of this acquisition for Aukett Swanke. Through this purchase, Aukett Swanke aims to strengthen its smart building offerings and capitalize on the opportunities presented by the acquired software assets, furthering its commitment to innovation and growth in the architectural and smart buildings domain.
